Twin Falls is one of Pickens County’s most popular natural destinations. Hikers and photographers flock to the falls to bathe and to take in the beauty of the impressive plunge pool that pours from the Jocassee Gorges Wilderness Area. Located in the heart of Eastatoee Valley off Highway 11, Reedy Cove Creek flows until merging with the Eastatoee River.

When the Twin Falls property went up for sale several decades ago, our founder, Tommy Wyche, heard of a non-profit called the Felburn Foundation, which was interested in protecting waterfalls. The state did not want to own the property, so Tommy contacted the Felburn Foundation, which purchased the land and placed a conservation easement on the property with The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Twin Falls has become a favorite destination for locals and visitors to the area. The Felburn Foundation, based in New York, has sought to transfer the property to an appropriate entity like Pickens County or SCDNR for long-term management. Pickens County is considering the acquisition. SCDNR is considering rerouting the access to the waterfall via a new trailhead to cut down on erosion and impacts to Reedy Cove Creek at the existing trailhead.

In the meantime, the adjacent landowner reached out to TNC notifying them that she wanted to sell her 2.8 acres adjacent to the park for conservation. The small property owns both sides of the creek and is arguably the most beautiful section of the woods. Naturaland Trust stepped in to purchase the property at the end of 2024.

Naturaland Trust will facilitate a transfer to Pickens County should they decide to take over Twin Falls, or we will also work with SCDNR to encourage a new trailhead. This strategic property protects more of Reedy Cove Creek and its gorgeous forest and gives us the flexibility to manage access more appropriately for the public.
